December 14, 2010 - Several Bengals Players Visit Cincinnati VA Hospital
On the morning of December 14, 2010, twelve players from the Cincinnati Bengals participated with Pros for Vets in a patient visit at the local VA hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio. Members of the PFV group included: starting safety and PFV co-founder Roy Williams; starting cornerback, Leon Hall; starting linebacker, Keith Rivers; and starting defensive end, Michael Johnson.
For more than two hours, the players interacted with patients, signed autographs and posed for pictures. The patients and even the staff were noticeably excited by the players presence. As the players handed out "Who Dey" towels and Christmas Cards, the response from some of the patients was simply overwhelming. With tears in his eyes, one vet explained, "Most people forget about us during the holidays. They don't realize that many of us don't have families or loved ones who come to visit us."
To say the visit was a success would be a huge understatement. Following the PFV visit, Keith Rivers was visibly touched by the vets and their warmth and appreciation. Rivers, whose brother is currently serving in Iraq, knows all too well the sacrifice these men and women are making or have made to protect our freedom.
